The Tangy Maavinkai Anna/ Mango Rice

Summer is here and Mangoes are here. But today I am not telling anything about ripe mango fruit but I am telling more about raw mangoes with rice. This is easy to make and also easy to eat ;-) Really tasty and this is in the series of quick food!

Ingredients:

Raw Mango- 1 grated
Rice - 2 cups cooked
Urad dal - 2 tsp
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 tsp
Onion - 1 Chopped finely
Green Chilli - 2 Finely Chopped
Corriander Leaves - 2 Table spoons finely Chopped
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 2 tsp

Preparation:

1. Heat oil in the pan, add mustard, let it sputter and add urad dal and chana dal and also add asafoetida.
2. When the dal is golden brown, add green chilli and onion, add salt, fry till golden brown.
3. Add turmeric powder and then add the rice and sprinkle little water on it and stir it.
4. Add the grated mango and mix nicely and let it get cooked for few minutes so that the rice and the spice should get blended together. You can sprinkle some water too.
5. When its cooked, garnish with corriander leaves.

You can have maavinkaai anna with lime pickle or some curd or some chips. Whatever it is taken along with, it tastes tangy and yummy!

So try it and let me know if you like it!
